View Life in the Square

The house has just been refurbished, which we have tried to do in a manner that provides modern convenience but also in a way that retains the traditional Spanish heart of the house. There’s certainly plenty of space! Lounges upstairs and downstairs - the downstairs lounge will become the dining room in winter but currently everybody eats on the terrace - three huge bedrooms, bathroom, separate shower room and kitchens also both upstairs and downstairs.

Downstairs Lounge and Kitchen

Because of the thick walls the lounges are cool in summer and easy to heat and make cosy in the winter. The dining room/lower lounge is pretty roomy and opens onto the square but most of the year in this part of Spain you will want to eat outdoors we have made a dining area on the terrace that comfortably sits 6 people.

Upstairs Lounge and Top bedroom

All the bedrooms are of good size and well appointed (see photos below). The top bedroom is actually two rooms combined to make a flexible suite for a couple or family with young child, with double bed, seating area overlooking the square and the countryside and a separate dressing room. The other two bedrooms are large doubles, one of which also has a balcony to the square.

The terrace overlooks the church, the square and the rooftops of the town but also has lovely views of the countryside for miles around and of El Hacho, the mountain that overlooks the town (click here for views). A house of this size definitely needs a second bathroom but having a second kitchen next to the roof terrace is a real bonus, it just makes life so much easier!

Terrace Dining Area

And, of course, the square is just outside of the front door so you can just go out and soak in Andalucian life. Personally, I enjoy reading a book in the shaded viewpoint opposite the house or sitting with a beer in the bar opposite, at the far end of the square.
